Venice was magnificent. I loved it, even if it was a little on the whiffy side. We did the typical touristy gondola ride but face it, no matter how tacky you simply can't experience Venice without at least one gondola ride. We visited the islands of Murano (famous for Murano glass), Lido and Torcello. There's something magical and timeless about Venice, unfortunately it is spoilt by the vast hordes of (loud obnoxious ignorant american) tourists. Queue well before opening hours for Basilica di San Marco, and remember to cover up when visiting a church (no bare arms or legs and htis applies to males and females). I took good photos of the Basilica, unfortunately not with the digital camera, sorry.
